Bloc Party's sisger Kele Okereke has dropped his bandmates are planning to audition for a new singer, according to guitarist Russell Lissack.

Okereke, the group announced a hiatus in 2009 when his solo album The Boxer which was released last year to allow it to function.

Block Party in April to speculate on future Lissack emerged when working on a new album planned to confirm this, while Okereke claimed not to have been informed.

Earlier this month, the star admitted she is not sure if he is still a part of the line-up, saying, "I hope I haven't been fired. I don't really know what's going on, because we haven't really spoken recently and I'm a bit too scared to ask."

Okereke and Lissack again to include the recognition they are tired of waiting and a new singer is looking to hire.

He tells NME, "It's not really a secret because Kele's been pretty busy doing solo stuff and it looks like he's going to be doing that a bit longer. The other three of us wanted to meet up and make music. We were talking about just doing an instrumental thing, but now we might get a singer as well, to properly put some music out and play some shows.

"Because it's the three of us, I guess there'd be some degree of expectation from people to at least play the songs we wrote. I don't think any of us (including Kele) would object to that."

However, Lissack is adamant there is no rift with Okereke, adding, "We've still got the same management and stuff, so he might have known, he might not. He's doing his own thing and we wanted to play together, so it wasn't like we were going behind his back. I haven't spoken to Kele for a couple of months, I guess since the festivals when I was doing stuff with Ash. But there's no bad vibes."

He continued, “I followed him around the corner and then I saw Matt, Gordon, and Russell all standing outside this rehearsal space. They all went inside.”

The band frontman is released his first solo album, The Boxer, previous year; in addition, a solo EP, The Hunter, is due out late next month.

But any hint of their individual projects within a Bloc Party never had a problem.

He did confess, “I hope I haven’t been fired. I don’t really know what’s going on, because we haven’t really spoken recently and I’m a bit too scared to ask.”

Kele Okereke is one of the Bloc Party's band member, who has hinted that the band will release fresh material this summer.

Okereke said: "There are some plans for new stuff. I'm not sure what I can say... I'd be surprised if there wasn't some new stuff before the end of the summer."

The Bloc Party band would get back together on this year in September, according to the band's guitarist Russell Lissack.

He said: "Kele and I started working on Bloc Party stuff together and separately. We're having a bit of a break until the festivals are over, because people have commitments during the summer, but we're going to get back properly in September and sit in a rehearsal studio to work on new band material."

Gordon Moakes's bassist of Bloc Party band has another band named Young Legionnaire and his new band will release their debut album in May.

The band, which also consists The Automatic’s Paul Mullan, have called the album 'Crisis Works'. It will be out on May 9.

Debut single, ‘Chapter, Verse’ have been made by the group,available as a free download from their official website, Younglegionnaire.com.

Younglegionnaire is currently on a UK tour,They are also confirmed for Austin's South By South West festival in March and the Live At Leeds event, which takes place on April 29-May 1.

Bloc Party frontman Kele Okereke is writing a book revealed by himself.Singer is now heading towards New York in order to finish off the project – but did not reveal what kind of book he was writing.

"I'm moving to Manhattan in the next couple of weeks," he said. "I'm writing a book and I want to go somewhere and finish it."

He added: "We [Bloc Party] had a meeting before Christmas, but I'm just focused on the book at the moment. I'm not thinking about anything like that right now."

Russell Lissack Bloc Party ended up in hospital last month when a lion attacked him. The guitarist was visiting a wildlife refuge on tour with Ash in South Africa when the animal bit him, drawing blood.During the holidays around shows in Johannesburg and Cape Town, Lissack made a trip with Ash singer Tim Wheeler. He was playing with a cuddly little cub - there's a more benign picture at Spinner - when he attacked.

Regardless of the youth of the cat, there's no messing around when it comes to man-eating carnivores. Lissack was taken to hospital where he received treatment and a booster against tetanus. Within hours of the visit of the musicians, the hospital was closed, according to a spokesman for the group, after two men died of an unrelated virus, and unidentified. To make matters worse, the group had a car accident on the way back to the hotel.

Fortunately, no injuries later and everyone is now very well, reports Spinner. Ash are back in the UK, the preparation of their second anthology of singles AZ. It is not clear whether Lissack will continue to play with them, Bloc Party paused, he was invited into the group for a series of concert dates. Seems like guitarist Russell Lissack is really enjoying his time off from Bloc Party. Contrary to his main gig’s oft-dramatic leanings, his latest project, Pin Me Down, which teams Lissack with New York singer Milena Mepris, is pure electro-pop sunshine. Bloc Party announced last year the band would be taking a lengthy break after three albums and tons of touring.

Pin Me Down layers Mepris’ hooky vocals over Lissack’s driving guitar riffs and heavy electronic beats, creating a catchy, danceable groove a’la Little Boots. The band, which recorded separately (Mepris in New York and Lissack from the road) traded music and lyrics via e-mail.

The duo’s first single, “Cryptic,” was released earlier this year, and they recently made a new song called “Time Crisis” available for download. Expect a full album later this year.

Working on a solo album Bloc Party frontman Kele Okereke is reportedly, according to producer Hudson Mohawke. BBC Radio in an interview 1Xtra's Benji B, Mohawke mentioned a forthcoming collaboration with Erykah Badu "… and I'm also kinda doing a little bit of stuff for Kele from Bloc Party's solo album as well".
Mohawke – a DJ whose real name is Ross Birchard – also said Okereke is "doing a record" with "one of the guys" from Baltimore club duo Spank Rock. It's not clear whether Mohawke means an album or just one track, though producer Alex Epton, aka Armani XXXchange, is widely reported as the Spank Rocker in question. XXXchange has previously remixed songs by Thom Yorke, Beck, Lady Sovereign, Santigold and others, as well as producing Amanda Blank and the Kills.
Though Okereke's solo work has not been formally announced, the project has been widely speculated since Bloc Party revealed plans for a band hiatus. "I definitely don't think this will be the last you'll hear of the people who make up Bloc Party," drummer Matt Tong said in October. "Kele is an insatiable workaholic so you'll definitely hear from him again." The group currently wrapped up a UK tour and have only one more date scheduled, 19 November in Osaka.

Former Bloc Québécois MP Caroline St-Hilaire was elected mayor of the city of Longueuil on Montreal's South Shore on Sunday, ousting a party that has been in power for 27 years.
Hilaire, leader of the Action Longueuil Party, defeated Jacques Goyette — recently the chairman of the city's executive committee.
Goyette had succeeded outgoing Mayor Claude Gladu at the helm of the Parti Municipal Longueuil.
In a speech to supporters, St-Hilaire called her election a victory for democracy, and promised to put the city on the "road to ethics, integrity and transparency."
St-Hilaire will have a minority on city council, with the Parti Municipal Longueuil having won 16 of 26 seats.
The former Bloc MP and daughter of the late Longueuil city councillor Jean St-Hilaire called on members of the opposition party and mayors of de-merged municipalities on the South Shore to work with her "to restore harmony at the agglomeration [council]."

Bloc Party don't worry about their fans' opinions.
The pair say they are glad to change genres with every album they release as they always want a new challenge, even at the risk of alienating their supporters.
Asked about the effect the change in sound has on their fan base, bassist Gordon Moakes said: "That kind of thingworry was doesn't us.
"We've been conscious of that from when we were demoing. We come from a place of not needing to do what we've done before we've been talking about from day one. You might say we are no bigger a post punk band but why do what we've already done? That's how we've ended up where we are recently."
Despite an extensive back catalogue, the pair are always striving to give the best performance possible when they play live and scraps to make life easy for themselves.
Gordon added to the North Wales Chronicle newspaper: "I think in a way we've gone out of our way in how we attack our recording and how we then interpret that for the live stage. One of the most important things is how we play that music instead of pre combining it into a hard drive.
"I know it mean for me a lot for me to be honest about how we replicated tracks, I didn't just need to let the backing track go, I needed to find an actual way of going that. That has been an interesting journey. I have learned a lot learned to play some instruments better. It's a bit of a non sequiter, but someone said if you're not learning you should quit. That's a nice analogy to put into music."

The Doors' 1967 gig at the New Haven Arena in New Haven, Connecticut tops the list of most famous interrupted gigs, according to a current poll by the ticket agency, viagogo.

A 2007 concert in Utrecht, Holland by Bloc Party comes in a close second: The band stopped playing when the crowd spotted a couple having sex in the audience. This prompted other members of the crowd to do the nasty. Realizing they were now in the midst of an orgy, Bloc Party exited the stage.

Britney stormed off the stage after 15 minutes, claiming the auditorium was too smoky and she was uncomfortable with the number of fans smoking marijuana. The bloc of leftists is planning to call for a referendum on a Common Economic Space (CES), Ukraine's attitude to NATO and the Russian language stats, Communist Party leader Petro Symonenko has said.
"We'll definitely hold a referendum on three issues a Common Economic Space (CES), Ukraine's attitude to NATO and the Russian language status," the party's press service quoted him as saying on Thursday.
Symonenko said that leftist bloc members would call for Russian to be rendered the national status in Ukraine.

BERLIN (Reuters) German Chancellor Angela Merkel's conservatives have enough support to form a center right alliance with the business friendly Free Democrats (FDP), a new poll showed on Tuesday.
The poll by Allensbach for the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung newspaper put support for Merkel's conservative bloc down 1 point at 35 percent and the FDP up a point at 13.5 percent.
Their combined score of 48.5 percent exceeds that of the other three major parties the SPD, Greens and Left party put together.
The SPD was up 1.5 points at 24 percent, the Greens down one point to 11 percent and the Left down half a point to 11.5 percent.

Bloc Quebecois Leader Gilles Duceppe said he may support Canada’s governing Conservative party in a budget vote this week as long as it doesn’t include a “poison pill,” the Montreal Gazette reported.
Duceppe said his party, which along with the two other opposition parties holds the balance of power in Canada’s Parliament, would support a motion to adopt Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s home-renovation tax credit, the Gazette reported. The newspaper didn’t say where Duceppe made the comments.

Bloc Party singer Kele Okereke says he is distressed with the band's promotional videos as the end report is never as good as the planned footage.

Frontman Kele Okereke says he never watches their promotional clips back as they never turn out the way they were initially imagined.
He said: "With the video making operation I don't pay consider anymore. You always get these intervention advised to you then you get the video and it looks nothing like the intervention do I made a decision of letting others decide because it's not actually worth an argument. So 'Flux', I've only seen it a few times, I don't watch videos much. Some members of the band are more opinionated on what they do and don't like and I trust them. We tend to get things done."
The singer whose pair performed at the Reading and Leeds festivals last week also admitted he dislikes playing festivals because it is "hard work."
He explained to Absolute Radio DJ Simon Mundie: "I guess it's lots of people in a field and when it's good it's a great feeling but you never actually know. It's not like doing your own show, it's harder work and I'm lazy."

Since breaking onto the indie scene with 2005s artistic debut album ‘Silent Alarm’, Bloc Party have always attracted the haters.
The people who criticise Kele’s awkwardness as a front man or pour scorn on their effort to vary their sound will never be convinced by this London’s four piece’s effort to push their sound forward. Yes, they are capable of equal amounts of hits and misses and yes, they are at times just mirroring what TV on The Radio are achieve across the pond with varying results but since headlining The Other stage at this year’s Glastonbury, they have become a band possessed.
They built the bar high by putting in such a strong show supporting headliners Radiohead. No biggest the puny indie band of yore, Bloc Party are now a robust rock band not afraid to throw in elements of other genres with a surprisingly high amount of excellent songs to carry off a set of such importance.
The Euro trance authority of ‘Flux’ which sounded laboured on record now soars in exactly the same way a great dance record does on drugs. Similarly, latest single ‘One More Chance’ which again doesn’t quite work recorded, live forces the crowd into a genuine late 80s dance party vibe and is already a perfect festival anthem and 'One Month Off' comes off sounding like a twisted Ed Rush and Optical drum n bass work out, all this AND they are able to drop 'So here we are', their finest track; from their set; a roaring success.
As anyone who has experienced Radiohead live will know, they are a mesmerising band who demand every second of your concentration. To add to that, you’ve also got the added excitement of it being their first ever show in Austria as well as the commonly signs on the video screen declaring an impending thunderstorm, which held out til the following day and lasted…all day.
Using the same solar powered lighting system and monochrome video montages of each band member playing as they have done for the whole of their tour in support of 'In Rainbows', it adduce great relief from the rest of the video wall movie which at best was laughable for every other band at the festival.
Despite playing a similar set for the best part of two years now, the tinkering of the set list keeps it fresh each time. An eerie silence permeates through the crowd as they clatter into 'In Rainbow' opener '15 Step', the mellow electronic thump of ‘Kid A’ is sandwiched between a soaring ‘All I need’ and a furious run through of ‘The National Anthem’. ‘Jigsaw falling into place’ proves to be the best track live from their last album while a double whammy of ‘Bodysnatchers’ and ‘Idioteque’ induces a mass of angry dance offs through the site.
Currently released track ‘These are my twisted words’ already sounds like classic Radiohead and live it drops everybody’s jaws with its atmospheric drama closing with the binding techno-isms of 'Everything in its right place.
So for one night only, Austria was theirs for the taking...they did and Austria loved them for it. Astounding.

Bloc Party – One More Chance

Bloc Party have backed a lot of ground since 2004s “Silent Alarm”. Gone are the jagged hooks, mournful howling and perhaps some of the expectation too.
“One More Chance” is the latest single from the London clemence and it signals a further progression on the path towards total electronica. The song opens with a solid beat before being joined by a piano riff that wouldn’t sound out of place on a ‘90s Ibiza compilation.
Kele’s “Give me one more chance to love you” opening at least assure us that Bloc Party themes of rejection and loss are still present. Some things will never change. After coming to terms with the piano, the track colonize down into a acceptable but uninspiring blend of bass-heavy chorus and a New-Order style of percussion.
Whilst “One More Chance” is a perfectly enjoyable tune, it would be a lie to say that it shows Bloc Party at their best.
Maybe one day the boys will get scare stiff of playing with synthesizers and start to play actual music again. Until then, this will do…

Kele Okereke, lead singer and guitarist of the band that produced three genre-busting albums claims that the party might be over. In a discussion with Triple J regarding any future Bloc Party album releases, the Liverpool native said, “We don’t know what the future holds. It’s weird, we’re out of contract now so… we might take a year off, we might take three years off…. we might never make a record again or we might head straight back in and do a record. We’ll see how we feel come the end of this touring cycle.”

Okereke’s comments were made in the middle of a long and exhaustive tour, however it should still be noted. Signs have been shooting through the internet of the band’s foreseeable future. Bloc Party are a British band. Bloc Party band consists of Kele Okereke (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Russell Lissack (lead guitar), Gordon Moakes (bass guitar, synths, backing vocals, glockenspiel), and Matt Tong (drums,backing vocals). Initially known as Union, this London, England-based art-punk quartet came out in 2004 as one of the year's most fascinating prediction. Kele Okereke (b. Kelechukwu Rowland Okereke, 13 October 1981, Liverpool, Merseyside, England; vocals/guitar) and Russell Lissack (b. 11 March 1981, London, England; guitar) first met in 1998 and after several efforts to begin their own band, at last found two musicians, Gordon Moakes (b. 22 June 1976, England; bass/vocals) and Matt Tong (b. 29 April 1979, Bournemouth, Dorset, England; drums), with mutual musical tastes.
The group of four began playing live shows at the start of 2002 and recorded a demo under their unique name, Union. Drawing motivation from key 80s bands such as the Cure (particularly in Okereke's vocals) and Gang Of Four, the quartet began to draw rave notices for their endearingly ramshackle stage performances. They launched the three-track 7-inch vinyl single "She's Hearing Voices" on the Trash Aesthetics label in February 2004. "Banquet"/"Staying Fat" followed on the Moshi Moshi label in May. UK reviewers fell over themselves to admire the latter release, in particular, comparing the quartet's jittery pop punk sound to recent releases by media darlings Franz Ferdinand and the Rapture. The tracks from both singles were subsequently re-released on the Bloc Party EP, and shortly afterwards the quartet signed a recording contract with Wichita Records. The single "So Here We Are" broke into the UK Top 5 in January 2005, prior to the release of the quartet's much-hyped long-playing, Silent Alarm. Despite lacking a certain cohesion, the album was greeted with widespread acclaim and was a commercial success.
An album of remixes go after in August, featuring Ladytron, Four Tet and Mogwai, following which Bloc Party retreated to the studio to plan and record their second album. Released at the start of 2007, A Weekend In The City was called as a great improvement on the quartet's debut, eschewing that set's pop leanings to fashion a taut statement of post-punk intention.
